First direct identification of the barlens vertical structure in galaxy models

Applying spectral dynamics methods to one typical N -body model with a barlens, we dissect the modelled bar into separate components supported by completely different types of orbits. We identify at least four components: narrow elongated bar, boxy and two contributing barlens. analyse vertical structure all that make up thick part which has boxy/peanut shape (B/P bulge). show ‘peanut’ is mainly due orbits assemble face-on bar. associate X-shape The wider barlens square-like isophotes contributes B/P bulge when observe galaxy edge-on. However, rounded in view rather flat direction without any significant off-centre protrusions. Thus, for first time, demonstrate cannot be entirely associated bulge.
